Observations: The carnival celebrations begin on Carnival Friday and many employers give their employees the option to work extra hours weeks before in exchange for having off all of Carnival Saturday and Monday and Ash Wedndesday till noon (this is at the employer's discretion).

Holy Week runs from Maundy (Holy) Thursday through Saturday, reason for which many employers give their employees the option of working overtime in the weeks prior in exchange for having off from Thursday at noon through Saturday, if it is a business that normally works on Saturdays (this is at the discretion of the employer).
